Five friends go to a remote cabin in the woods. Bad things happen. If you think you know this story, think again. The Cabin in the Woods is a horror film that turns the genre inside out. (Lionsgate)

Imaginative, entertaining and a lot of fun.

Battleship

Cast
Taylor Kitsch
Rihanna
Alexander SkarsgÄrd
Brooklyn Decker
Liam Neeson
Screenwriters
Erich Hoeber
Jon Hoeber
Director
Peter Berg
Running Time
131 minutes

A fleet of ships is forced to do battle with an armada of unknown origins in order to discover and thwart their destructive goals.

The whole of the central characters pre navy sequence, although kind of fun, seemed unnecessary especially given the films length and undermined the believability of him having risen to third in command [or something like that]. The veteran crew and the guy with no legs who I can't seem to identify on IMDB I assume are non actors given there performances and perhaps are who the film says they are.
It gets increasingly dafter as it goes on but I did enjoy it perhaps because of that. There's a bonus scene after the long credits.

The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists!

Cast
Hugh Grant
Martin Freeman
David Tennant
Salma Hayek
Jeremy Piven
Imelda Staunton
Screenwriter
Gideon Defoe
Director
Peter Lord
Running Time
88 minutes

The Pirate Captain (Hugh Grant), the head of a terribly unsuccessful band of buccaneers, plans to win the award for Pirate Of The Year, despite being vastly under-qualified. A quest to plunder enormous amounts of treasure with the help of his most unassuming crewmate leads to a run-in with English royalty and the entire scientific community.[Empire]

The first half was great and then it ran out of steam somehow in the second half.
