Emotionally the film relies upon what happened in X3 which was a disaster generally but extraordinarily in how it threw away the phoenix saga and it leaves a bad taste every time they touch upon it here. It's OK but bloodless and ordinary.

Cast

Screenwriters

Edgar Wright
Director
Edgar Wright
Running Time
109 minutes
20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.[Metacritic]
I enjoyed it but it's the least of the trilogy. It's kept afloat by Pegg's energy and Frost's once the danger is revealed and his character gets into the fray.

Screenwriters

Guillermo del Toro
Director
Guillermo del Toro
Running Time
131 minutes
When monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse. [Warner Bros.]
Disappointing especially coming from del Toro. It's fun but the story and characters are too simple.

After the crew of the Enterprise find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction.[Metacritic]
I enjoyed the beginning with the colourful alien planet and the airlock filled with water both were bold great ideas but nothing really matched that afterwards. It's too long and bombastic, not everything needs to blow up all the time. They try to give everyone screen time which results in Kirk and Spock not being fleshed out enough and Dr. McCoy being reduced to a clown, why is he spending so much time on the bridge?[Spoiler]Using the Khan story from the original series/movie I didn't like and hopefully they're not going to do that for every movie. Come up with fresh ideas, doing pale imitations of what came before doesn't entertain me.

Running Time

Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man? [Marvel Studios]
There was lots of good stuff but a little long and too hectic, the 3D made the action scenes harder to follow. I appreciated it more than loved it.

Intrigued by this gifted and unusual student, Germain rediscovers his taste for teaching, but the boy’s intrusion sparks a series of uncontrollable events. [Cohen Media]
The main couple go to the cinema to see Match Point [the Woody Allen film] and this actually plays like one of his films. The BBFC notice before the film had a kind of inverse spoiler which misled me as to where the film was going. I enjoyed it but it was strangely uninvolving.

Becky and Sandra aren't the best of friends. Sandra is a middle-aged manager at a fast-food restaurant; Becky is a teen-aged counter girl who really needs the job. One stressful day (too many customers and too little bacon), a police officer calls, accusing Becky of stealing money from a customer's purse, which she vehemently denies. Sandra, overwhelmed by her managerial responsibilities, complies with the officer's orders to detain Becky. This choice begins a nightmare that tragically blurs the lines between expedience and prudence, legality and reason. (Magnolia Pictures)
It's interesting and thought provoking but I found it difficult to empathise with people who were that foolish for that long which distanced me from the story.
