Based on Cormac McCarthy's beloved, best-selling and Pulitzer Prize winning novel, Academy Award nominee Viggo Mortensen leads an all-star cast in the big screen adaptation of The Road, the epic post-apocalyptic tale of a journey taken by a father and his young son across a barren landscape that was blasted by an unnamed cataclysm that destroyed civilization and most life on earth. (The Weinstein Company)

It was gently effecting for the most part. The steady drip of star cameos bothered me a bit but overall it was alright.

The mini has been unmemorable but I'm willing to get on board.

DV8: GODS & MONSTERS #1
On sale APRIL 21 • 1 of 8 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US
Written by BRIAN WOOD
Art by REBEKAH ISAACS
Cover by FIONA STAPLES
1:10 Variant cover by JIM LEE
The fan-favorite series DV8 returns with the eight-part “Gods & Monsters” arc written by critically acclaimed writer Brian Wood (DEMO, DMZ, NORTHLANDERS) with art by up-and-comer Rebekah Isaacs (Drafted). In their short history, the mismatched band of superpowered losers, freaks and masochists of DV8 have seen a lot and done even more, but it’s nothing compared to this. As Gem Antonelli (a.k.a. Copycat) is debriefed in a holding cell, the story of how eight troubled teenagers were briefly gods to a prehistorical world unfolds against the backdrop of a cataclysmic disaster. “The Day I Tried To Live” is part one in this amazing and tragic story unlike anything set in the WildStorm Universe before.
Retailers please note: This issue will ship with two covers. Please see the Previews Order Form for more information.

Loved this years ago or the early issues with Warren Ellis/Humberto Ramos anyway, Wood is a great writer and the price is right.

TURF #1 – GEM OF THE MONTH
story JONATHAN ROSS
art & cover TOMMY LEE EDWARDS
1:20 variant cover by DUNCAN FEGREDO
1: 50 variant cover by JIM STERANKO
1:100 variant sketch cover by TOMMY LEE EDWARDS
APRIL 7
32 PAGES / FC
$2.99
A four- issue hard boiled noir crime thriller with girls, guns, fangs and aliens.
New York, 1929. The height of prohibition. The cops turn a blind eye while the mobs run the city, dealing in guns, girls and illegal liquor. But the arrival of the mysterious Dragonmir Family from Eastern Europe with more of a taste for blood then booze co-incides with a series of brutal attacks on the gangsters themselves. As the gangs fall before the fangs, only handful of mobsters survive. But an unlikely alliance formed between tough guy Eddie Falco and a character from a LONG way from New York City – a long way from Earth in fact - offers the humans a glimmer of hope. As the strong willed young reporter Susie Dale from the Gotham Herald tries to survive in the middle of the maelstrom, and an ancient prophecy unfolds, no one can guess who’s going to win the battle for this particular slice of Turf.
RETAILER WARNING: MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR ALL AGES

Again the price plus the preview art looks good but the madness of Jonathan Ross writing it sells me on its own.

Surprisingly sweary and with kind of a mean ending but I enjoyed it a lot. A genuinely funny and intelligent film.

Running Time

The comedy Did You Hear About the Morgans? follows a highly successful Manhattan couple, Meryl and Paul Morgan, whose almost-perfect lives have only one notable failure – their dissolving marriage. But the turmoil of their romantic lives is nothing compared to what they are about to experience: they witness a murder and become targets of a contract killer. The Feds, protecting their witnesses, whisk away the Morgans from their beloved New York to a tiny town in Wyoming, and a relationship that was on the rocks threatens to end completely in the Rockies... unless, in their new BlackBerry-free lives, the Morgans can slow down the pace and rekindle the passion. (Sony Pictures)

In equal measure amiable and dull.
